The Amazing Matt Brown was born in Jackson, Tennessee 80 miles from Beale Street and the birthplace of rock & roll. As soon as he was old enough to hold a crayon, he began making his mark on everything that wasn't nailed down. A lack of interest in school fueled his creativity allowing him 8 hours a day to draw on notebooks, clothes, and occasionally school property. Ten years of school was enough to make him realize that the status quo would never be enough, so at 16 he left home and school behind. A fascination with tattoos had him tattooing friends jailhouse style at 15 years old. When Precision Ink opened in his hometown his life was about to change forever. Matt became close friends with the shop owner and was invited to his first tattoo convention in New Orleans a month after his 18th birthday. There he saw Gill Montie tattooing a skull on a man's hand and for the first time ever, he knew what he wanted to do with his life. He went home Sunday and started his apprenticeship on Monday. Nineteen years and 40 awards later, Matt works for his mentor Gill "The Drill" in one of the most famous tattoo shops on earth, Tattoo Mania specializing in black & gray and mind bending color tattoos.
